The Scandent system can be installed at a nursing home in one day. Installation is typically handled by Scandent with support from facility maintenance staff. Scandent's hardware infrastructure consists of mounted readers,
antennas, and touch screens at the checkpoints, handheld scanners, and a registration reader for item registration and identification
The vast majority of items, including hearing aids, glasses, wallets, clothing, laptops, cell phones, TVs, remote controls, medical equipment, furniture, and other electronics can be tagged by nursing home staff.
Scandent's RFID tags come in the forms of specialized stickers or clips that can easily be attached to an item. Dentures are typically tagged by Scandent technicians on-site - the procedure takes about 10
minutes per piece.
All of Scandent's RFID tags are passive, which means they do not require batteries and never need to be replaced. The tags are customized to work with specific items so they do not affect their fit or feel. Further, because the
tags are passive and battery-less, they do not emit any signals. All of the hardware in the Scandent system has been FCC ratified and is completely safe for residential use.
